WHAT IS A FASHION PLUS SIZE? DEFINITION OF THE TERM!

In the fashion industry, "plus size" is a term for clothing models size 48 from pants up and GG onwards for blouses. In the case of men, the social classification is in dummy from the size 5 of shirt, be it short sleeve or compressed. It's a categorization of fashion to better organize your categories and not another style of dress.

The term emerged a few decades ago to determine a needful follow-up in the supply market. When fashion began to industrialize and go to large-scale production, it was very rare to find GG women or social trousers for men. The industry has grown a lot, especially in the last five years, even winning its own parade, but it is still a market to be widely explored.

The controversy of fashion plus size and the perfect body

The plus size rating has left much to be desired in the market and caused uproar in the defenders of a normal, healthy body beauty standard, not top model waist size 386.

That's because fashion already considers waist 44 a wide and out of the standard model and some brands do not even produce wide waist this size. And in a modern, fast-food world, if fashionistas are saying that plus-size women wear 44-up, it's causing serious body image problems in people who are not that fat.

The category arose more to make men and women more comfortable in not adapting to the sallow models of the European brands. By producing 42 waist pieces at the most, fashion is causing unrealistic expectations. For many years the fashion dictated the body of women and not always being thin is synonymous to be healthy, so the increase of mannequin pattern was necessary and the chubby, a specific category emerges and equally necessary.

At the beginning of production, the plus-size models were around 58 pants and XGG blouse. Over time it has become customary to produce larger and more comfortable sizes to the body, even if it is not according to local fashion. That's why there were industry parades, famous brands and magazines choosing to show a more real pattern of women and men and not just the thinness of the catwalk.

Fashion plus size is more expensive?

Actually yes, but it's just a market issue.

As there are few investment stores heavily in the follow up yet, demand is still higher than supply, and so prices are less in account. In some cases the same model in smaller size in another store cost half the price. It's nothing against the chubby, it's just a matter of low supply and high demand, giving the merchant the chance to increase profit.

The plus size market is one of the strongest and most lucrative of the various sectors of fashion, both beach, party and especially social, a poor sector. The big stores are also dedicating themselves to selling products in extra sizes, such as Renner, Riachuello and the like.
